My High Tea block is on page 57. It uses Northcott’s High tea 10th Anniversary collection. I combined this block with a simple Snowball block to create this pretty twin/double quilt.
I also played with 3 other new Northcott collections to show you how the block may look in completely different fabrics.
Midnight Madness keeps the black background, and here is a lap version of the quilt.
Snow Queen has a dark ground, but I used a light fabric in the alternate snowball blocks.
I also chose the lovely Leading Ladies Encore collection to show you how this block looks with a light background. I like them all! What about you? Leave a comment by midnight tonight and let me know your favorite, and your name will be entered for a chance to win a copy of “100 Blocks Volume 3”. I may throw in some fabrics from your favorite too!
Love High Tea and do so appreciate your showing multiple settings and fabrics.
I love your block made with the Midnight Madness line. What a great Halloween quilt that makes! Congrats on having your block published!
Love your block! Thank you for giving several different colorways. It is so helpful!
you just can’t go wrong with a star block – it looks great in every version! I would have to pick the Halloween version – just a very fun time of year!
I am in love with all three quilts. The different fabrics make it look like a different quilt which is the sign of a great design. Congratulations on being chosen for the magazine.
I really like the block in those colors. I think the quilt is great!! Thank you for a chance to win a book. Thank you
I personally like the Snow Queen best. I have used darker colors for back grounds in my quilts. It is just something about the lighter colors that has caught my eye this time.
I love the Snow Queen!
Love these! thanks for being part of this blog trek. I just want to go home and sew, sew, sew!
How exciting! Lovely block. Thanks for the give-away.
I like all three of the combinations, but think the Midnight Madness is my favorite. I see I am the first to comment — not too sure how my luck will fare with that —- I am rarely first at anything.
A lovely block, with such versatility.
Love the variation of the green and lavendar
Northcott High Tea collection would be my favorite
Dark and striking! beautiful block!
Definitely the last one in purple and lavender. It looks so much like spring which we are not having in Wisconsin right now!
I love the Leading Ladies Encore collection for this block. Great colors. Thank you for offering the chance to win.
Congrats on being featured!
I love the Snow Queen!
Thanks for the chance 😀
I love that Leading Ladie’s block – it gives such a delicate look – and just happens to be in my favorite color combinations. Very nice.
High Tea…how appropriate given William and Kate’s wedding was just last week. Now do I wait to see if I win the Quiltmakers 100 Blocks…or run out and buy it because I can’t wait for the full tour to see them all.
I love the look of High Tea, and it is also pretty in Leading Ladies. The skull center is fun, too. I am a floral and purple person, most though. Great block, and easy alternate block. I could really make this quilt! Thanks.
Love all your fabrics but if I had to choose it would have to be the Midnight Madness. Really like your block and how you paired it with the snowball. Thanks for the chance to win a great prize!!
Congratulations! Great block! My favorite is the beautiful “Leading Ladies” top. Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of “100 Blocks -Volume 3”. Hope to see you in future editions!
Even after such a long winter – I really love “Snow Queen”. Thanks and welcome to blogging!
Midnight Madness! For sure! Star blocks are my favorite and the Midnight Madness version of your block is just stunning!

Hello and Congratulations on being included in Quiltmakers 100 Blocks!! Your block is very nice and the High Tea version is very pretty. It’s nice to see different color variations, so I thank you … thank you also for this opportunity!!
I love your block. Snow Queen would be my favorite. It is so light and airy. Thanks for the giveaway.
I love the high tea block in itself. But it immediately drew me because of the name. My mother was British–a war bride–and for many years I would take her every few months to the Drake Hotel in Chicago for high tea and to listen to her memories of home. She is gone now, but the memories of high tea are precious. Thank you for this block–for more reasons than one!
High tea…sounds perfect for a royal wedding!
As soon as I saw the Midnight Madness fabric block I thought that it would make a great Fall/Halloween quilt. Fall is my favorite season. And I love that block. Thanks for the inspiration.
Very pretty block!
Karen in Breezy Point
I like the Midnight Madness example the best. Nicely done.
I love them all. It’s too hard to decide.
This is a great pattern. I like the samples with lighter colors. I tend to shy away from the darker ones unless I need them for contrast to bright designs.
I love the Snow Queen color combination. I love whites, blues, purples, with pale yellows and greens. I love traditional blocks and lots of stars! Thanks!
just love the purple especially this time of the year when you look outside at all the wonderful flowers and of course the center square! Love it
What a great block! Just my style!! Thanks for all of the setting and color suggestions, too.
All yours are gorgeous but I have to say that the Leading Ladies one catches my eye the most. It seems so soft and feminine. Great design and so versitile. I love it!
I have to say that all of the choices are lovely and the design is really versitile but Leadign Ladies catches my eye the most. It looks so soft and feminine.

I like the Snow Queen one. The blue and white are beautiful together.
I like the Snow Queen version best – so light and peaceful looking, but it looks really good in all 3 versions.
Wow Patti. Tough choice. I’m not a big Halloween fan but really like the richness of the Midnight Madness. Great job.
I like the Snow Queen. It reminds me of ice crystals and I am also partial to blue. The arrangement of colors makes the block seem like a snowflake.
I love Snow Queen, but I’d make it scrappy with a single background.
I like the Midnight Madness version the best of all the colorways. It is such a nice size, too. Your High Tea block is lovely. Congratulations for this great accomplishment!

Thanks for showing the variations! I love the third quilt with the light background. My favorite today (who knows what it will be tomorrow!) has to be Joy Framed by Sarah Vee. That wall hanging is SO cheerful!
I like the High Tea 10th Anniversary collection. The dark colors are just my cup of tea
The snowy one (purple and white) really makes the pattern stand out so that is my favorite!
Wow. Stunning block. I really love the top one, High Tea because of the way the pink stands out from the black. Great looking quilt. Congratulations on being in your first Issue!! I’m sure you were dancing when you got the word. How fun.
WOW! What super great block you have!! Will be looking for a copy to hit the stands soon!!
Hugs from “Petunia Pinner”!!!
Love the High Tea quilt with the pink in it. Congratulations on making it in the magazine.
Oh, my favorite is the Leading Ladies Encore in the green and purple! Very striking! Thanks for the chance to win!
I love the one with the black background.
Welcome to Blogland. The “snow Queen” is my favorite with the lavendar. So soothing and dainty. My mother always said lavendar was a restful color. Hope I am a winner.
What a wonderfully versatile block! Thank you! I have been a subscriber to QuiltMaker for years and I am looking forward to purchasing the 100 Blocks issue.
Both of your quilts are very pretty. I think I prefer the one with the lighter backgroud, there’s more contrast and that appeals to me. thanks for the chance to win.
Wow, I do like the Leading Ladies in Lavender, but as a second variation the Midnight Madness catches the eye too. Great block idea and congratulations on appearing in the 100 Block Magazine!
I’m loving the Leading Ladies encore version. Thanks for a chance to win!

Lovely block. I think my favorite is the one with the Midnight Madness background.
Torn between Midnight Madness & Leading Ladies….very cool to see different color combos! Thank you!
I think I like the pink and purple version of your block the best. But the dark background one is nice also — hard to decide!

Your ‘High Tea’ block is a great choice with the recent ‘Royal Wedding’ that just occured.
I love your block in Snow Queen so pretty.
My choice is Midnight Madness. Love it.
With all the Royal Wedding hoopla, “High Tea” is quite timely, eh? Hooray for you!
Midnight Madness is definitely my favorite.
Thanks for showing the options, I love that. My favorite was the last one, Leading Ladies.
I like them all, but probably like the Midnight Madness the best…very dramatic!
Congratulations on having your block in the magazine!
Patti,
I think that your block is beautiful and I like the combination with the snowball block. The fabric for the High Tea from Northcott is very striking and looks great in the block. Congratulations on being chosed for the 100 blocks (3).
Sincerely,
Mary
They’re all lovely quilts. I think Snow Queen is my favorite. I’d love to cuddle up with it on a cool winter night.
Your block looks great in the light and dark versions, but I think I liked the darker on just a little better. I think it was great that you showed off your block in so many different ways.
Your quilt blocks are beautiful. Congratulations for being chosen to be in the book!
I like the pink & black one at the top. I love the colours and I think it showcases the block in the best way.
I always find it amazing how changing colours and values can change the look of a quilt so much! The fabrics used in “Midnight Madness” and “Snow Queen” really highlight a secondary pattern in the quilt.
Stopped in Tuesday morning, but didn’t know how to use this type of blog. Geesh, and I thought I was catching up to technology, lol. I really like the purples in the last quilt design. Thanks for sharing your design ideas and layouts.
High Tea is my favorite! Nice block!
I love the third version!
Great block
Torn between Snow Queen and Leading Ladies Encore but I think Snow Queen wins for me. Beautiful design.
Congratulations! Beautiful block!
Love your high Tea block, in midnight madness, but I need a king size. My husband wants me to make this for him.
Splendid block, so much potential its amazing to see the colour variations, thanks for showing us. Your quilts are lovely.
I love Snow Queen the best. They are all great but I’m partial to purples. Snow Queen just popped for me! Congratulations on your featured block!
I am completely confused as You have an advertisment in the Quilltlmaker magazine and show 3 quilts and several Christmas fabrics. I go to your site and no fabric and then I had to go to another site to find the pattern and still no fabric. I wanted to make it the same as the quilt and hoped for a kit. Where is the material and Why do you advertise and do not have the items you are showing. I am dismayed at your style of advertising.
Hi Cathy,
Please allow me to assist you in finding fabrics and patterns on Northcott’s website. (Going to a new website is a lot like going to a new grocery store – it takes a couple of visits before you are familiar with the store and can easliy find things.) The easiest way to find something is to enter the collection name in the Quick Search box at the top of the main page. If you enter “Crimson”, it will take you to a page that shows where the word crimson appears. Click on Collections, and you will be taken to the fabric collection. Along the right sidebar, the patterns using this collection will appear. If the collection is available in more than one colorway, the links to the other colorways will also be on the right sidebar. For easy reference, the links to the collection and the patterns are listed here.

2) Lace Garden for Quilt Design NW:

* Photo does not show Crimson Christmas, but user must scroll down until they find the name ‘Lace Garden’.
3) Morning Star for Plum Tree Quilts:

4) Northcott link to Crimson Christmas:

The other awesome feature on the Collections part of the site shows you where to find these fabrics: At the top of the right sidebar you will see the Where to Buy these fabrics – click on it, then click on your state or province, and a list of shops who have received theses fabrics will appear. Hover over the shop name, and the rest of the detials for the shop (address and phone number) will appear. Even if a shop isn’t local, they are only a phone call away, and most shops are more than happy to ship orders to you.
Patti…LOVED your presentation tonight at the Kempenfelt Quilters’ Guild. You truly are an inspiration.
Thanks for all you hints and shortcuts and breaking traditions from the “quilting police”
Looking forward to your newest patterns!!!
