Quilt Bee at Sea February 2-20, 2022
Are you a quilting cruiser? Or perhaps a quilting cruise wannabe? I have been on several – everywhere from Alaska to Panama to New Zealand – and they are the best! Think “quilt retreat” combined with “luxurious vacation”. Seriously, does it get any better?!? We quilt during the sea days and do tourist-y things during the port days (maybe even visit a local quilt shop!). It is the best of both worlds. And a Hawaiian cruise is the best of the best. There are lots of sea days (a.k.a. quilting days) and breath-takingly beautiful ports of call in a tropical paradise. We will be so ready for paradise by next February!
Along with 3 other talented instructors (Cheryl Lynch, Carrie Fondi and Krista Moser), I have been invited to teach on the World of Quilts Hawaiian cruise dubbed the Quilt Bee at Sea. I am so looking forward to in-person teaching again. My workshops include all my favorites, from Borders & Binding to Creative Free-motion Quilting to Intro to Improv, as well as some project-based classes like Faster & Fabulous Bargello, Lovely Lone Star and my iconic Winter Solstice. Coordinator Deb Roberts has been organizing quilting vacations for a long time and she knows her stuff. I have heard rave reviews about her trips from fellow quilters. The cameraderie on these trips is amazing, and many of the quilters form life-long friendships. We will have so much fun!!
This cruise is on the gorgeous Koningsdam, one of Holland America’s newest ships. Hubby and I have been on many Holland America cruises – we highly recommend them. Now, seasoned cruisers are chomping at the bit to get back on the high seas, so this cruise is almost sold out – very few rooms are left. I have had several quilters tell me in the past week that space is very limited. If you are sitting on the fence, or even just thinking about joining me on this epic adventure, please reach out to Deb and her team at World of Quilts Travel right away to secure a spot on the ship. Deb is happy to answer any questions that you may have, as am I.
I released my super-cool super-fun Hexie Crush pattern a couple weeks ago and will be hosting the Hexie Crush QAL to help you make your own version.

PC263 Hexie Crush pattern now available!
This 10-week event will pop into your mailbox each Wednesday from April 14 to June 16. Join me and the rest of the posse as we create the delightful Hexie Crush throw- or queen-size quilt. Each week we’ll go through the steps to piece a different block, and I’ll share my tips to make constructing it a breeze. My original quilt is made with the drop-dead-gorgeous True Kisses by Heather Bailey for FIGO Fabrics (available in quilt shops now – find it by using the Product Finder here) and I’ll be using the elegant Kensington Park by Northcott for a completely different look.

True Kisses and Kensington Park fabrics – two different looks!
Whether your style is modern, traditional or somewhere in between you’ll have a unique and exciting quilt top by June 16. The QAL is free – all you need is the pattern, and it can be purchased here. Did I mention there are weekly prizes?!? The first email with the details will go out very shortly. Sign up now and join in on the fun!
Finally, next week is the monthly Quilt Block Mania blog hop where I’ll be sharing my free pattern for a block showcasing this month’s theme “Rain”. The block is designed, all that’s left is the testing 😊. If you have quilty friends that you think would enjoy my blog and the blog hop, the Hexie Crush QAL or the Quilt Bee at Sea cruise, please forward this email. The more the merrier!
Cheers,
Patti
HI It is not clear to me if the pattern pieced or not. I am not keen on EPP or paper piecing. Thanks
Hi Laura, the Hexie Crush pattern uses templates (it is not paper-pieced or EPP).
