Fellow Quilters,
Last night it snowed. As I watched the frosty flakes gently falling and blanketing the earth in silence I couldn’t help but think of Christmas. It will be here before we know it! Soon I will start pulling out the decorations and placing them around our home. The first “decorations” to come out are my holiday quilts. Each bed has a special one. Then there are a few wall-hangings and lap/throw-size ones for the couches, and of course some placemats and table runners. Each one has a special place in my heart. What about you? Do you have a cherished stash of holiday quilts?
Well, I have a holiday treat for you today! The November edition of Quilt Block Mania, organized by Carolina Moore of Sew Much Moore, is chock-a-block full of holiday quilty inspiration. Twenty-six pattern designers have created a delightful mix of 12” holiday quilt blocks and they’re free for the taking – simply visit each designer’s website or blog at the links below to collect the patterns. This fabulous collection of holiday-inspired patterns is available now to allow you time to get some quick projects done for Christmas decorating or giving.

Carolina provided the group of designers with a color palette of cranberry & teal – so pretty! So contemporarily Christmas! (Hmmm…is that even a word?!?) I mulled over some ideas and settled on a pieced block that could be traditional but looks so fresh in cranberry and teal Toscana suede-like texture from Northcott. I’m calling it Sparkling Spruce.

Sparkling Spruce block
What do you think? Here is a quick mock-up of a throw quilt using the block.

A 55″ x 67″ throw-size version of Sparkling Spruce
I can picture this block in Christmas-colored plaids and also in funky prints with a modern vibe – here it is in FIGO Fabrics’ Polar Magic.

A lap-size version using FIGO’s Polar Magic collection – super cute!
And in Northcott’s Vintage Christmas.

You can download my pattern here.
This block is similar to the block I used in my White Christmas pattern – I love how the blocks blend seamlessly with the neighboring blocks to create a “field of trees and stars”.

PC133 Festive Frostings
So, in the spirit of giving, not only am I giving you the pattern for the Sparkling Spruce block, I am also going to give away a free holiday pattern from my Patti’s Patchwork website. For your chance to win, please leave a comment to this post by midnight November 11 telling me which of my holiday patterns you would like to receive (you can find the holiday patterns under the Seasonal tab).
Good luck and enjoy the holiday edition of Quilt Block Mania 😊
Cheers,
Patti

Hi patty! I love your patterns. It is really hard to choose just one, but, Falala catches my eye this morning. Thanks for the opportunity to add another to my collection!!
Your patterns are stunning! I would love to try the Carpenter’s Star. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing the free pattern! I would love to win Feathered Stars. It is beautiful with the peacocks.
The Sparkling Spruce Tree is going to make a sweet wall hanging on my front door! Love it!
I also love your Gifts Galore quilt pattern! You have great talent!

Thank you for these patterns. I love the quilt. Especially in the pinks and teals.
I love your Christmas blocks — but really like the one you did with this block – Thanks for sharing!
I would love to win Prism Stars. It is absolutely beautiful!
Love your block. It was a hard choice but if I win I would love the stacks of presents pattern.
I love the QBM pattern & the entire bloghop. So many great designers. From your website, I really like Vail! Thanks
I really like the Alpine Village pattern–Thanks for the chance!!
Love your block. Thank you for making it available. Also, if I win, my choice would be the Festive Frosting pattern.
I like the pattern – especially the various color options shown. Thank you
I’m new to quilting I have done 3 blocks and 1 paper piecing so far I found the QAL by the SEA that blow me away because I was about to give up cause I was not getting the support from the people around me but when I saw the crab and then the others I said YESSS this people could relate too in my country and I think they would appreciate the STACKS OF PRESENTS QUILT it looks beginner friendly too.
Vail is a delightful pattern that could be used as a runner or full quilt . grateful .
Thank you for sharing the pattern! I really like the vintage rendering. Boy, as for choosing a pattern, which was hard, O Holy Night really grabbed me.
Patti, feel free to download O Holy Night – it’s free 🙂
Hi Patti, I loved several of your patterns but i think the one that would be very popular with my grandchildren & some of the adult children would have to be Stacks of Presents. I think i would have fun making it too. Thanks for the free block i love it too. Allison
I like the sparkling spruce quilt you are showing in the block
What a gorgeous quilt this makes!! Thank you for sharing!!
I love this sparkling spruce block and would like to try it in the red and green version for a table runner. I agree O Holy Night is a great one.
I really like the spruce pattern and will most likely make a table runner, I think the O Holy Night is a great quilt pattern.
Hi Patti! What a fun block. Thank you so much for this pattern. If I were to choose just one holiday pattern it would be Carpenters Star.
This is a really unusual and wonderful block. I like the way the blocks look together. Thank you!
I like a lot of them but I think Vail is super cute.
The entire quilt is beautiful
I love your site. It feels like I’m reading a letter from an old friend. Of the 26 patterns designed, yours caught my eye. I like that there is variety within the block (different sized/shaped trees and stars). Yet, it’s balanced and will make a fun quilt.
The pattern I would like to try is “White Christmas”. Thanks so much.
